IT Industry is Set to Achieve New Landmarks

IT is the most suited industry in Kerala. Encouraging factors are that there are no environmental problems, low energy consumption, low working space requirement and professionally qualified work force. In the last 5 years, we could not forge ahead utilising there favourable factors. In a scenario where IT trade by 2020 is estimated to reach a turnover of Rs.10 lac crores, intensive efforts will be made to attract a major chunk of this to Kerala.

Steps will be taken to reduce the working cost of IT companies functioning in govt. owned IT parks.
A new knowledge-hub will be set up in Malappuram. Schemes will be formulated to overcome the situation of standstill existing in the IT sector and to create investment climate and attract prominent international companies to invest in Kerala.

E-governance project will be completed in a time-bound manner. Information Technology Special Investment Regions will be set up in Trivandrum, Kochi and Kozhikode. Priority will be given to the development of basic infrastructure projects required for IT. Single window network will be made effective.

Appropriate Parks will be set up for investment in Computer hardware. More IT corridors will be set up and basic infrastructure developed in conjunction with airports.

A Kerala model IT policy will be formulated for implementation which would provide employment to thousands of educated rural youth. Joining hands, the IT industry and the education sector will strive to promote a more successful student community and will make the general public aware of the peculiar nature of this industry.

Steps will be taken to remove the misunderstanding prevalent among investors and to present the investor-friendly-development picture of Kerala.

Government will set up a platform with the representatives from IT industrialists regarding availability of basic infrastructure and software marketing connected with IT industry.

Steps will be taken to exempt IT industry from Hartals. Through this, five lakh employment opportunities will be created in the IT sector during the next 5 years.

A system will be implemented for communicating government activities to the people through SMS.
