Oommen Chandi Speaks

It is rather deplorable that the self professed leader who fights against corruption is at the door step of Pushpan, a poor victim of notorious violent politics, to beseech his blessings before entering into the fray. The CM was trying to rake up emotions of the poor people by receiving the amount to give it as a token money for filing nominations.

However dramatic this would turn out to be, anyone with some sense would understand that this ‘Shylock’ drama was enacted to woo the voters. What a CM should have done was that he should have sought forgiveness from Pushpan as the CM’s party was responsible for unleashing a tyrannical rule of ‘sickle and hammer’ that resulted in this plight of Pushpan. Had the CM’s party been a party that stands for peace and nonviolence, Pushpan would still have been living as a healthy human being. Unfortunately that was not to be the case.

It all happened as a result of violent hate crimes that were opened like a Pandora’s Box by the CPI(M), 17 years back. The initial contention by the LDF was that there should not be any private institutions at all, as it would very well contradict with the Marxian philosophy that private property is against their ‘Kingdom Values’. Has the LDF ever thought as to how many innocent lives were plucked out before they bloomed and blossomed?

The stand was later altered owing to pressure from within and without the party! The stand later changed to offering private seats in education sector in just Gov’t owned institutions. How better it would have been, had the LDF disclosed this stand much earlier. Many people would have not been cheated. The stand changed further to all sorts of permutations and combinations!

It would be unwise to arrive at a consensus as to this would be the last stand that the LDF would stick on to, as it is a well known fact that the vote politics will still jeer at LDF and they will change their stand again, as the party itself is in a state of pathetic flux, an ever changing plethora of people centric politics with little vision for the welfare of the state and replete with visions for themselves!
